The work of the trade policy commission focuses on 3 topics:

- International trade
- Market surveillance
- Intellectual property right and counterfeiting

On International trade the groups monitor the ongoing EC proposals, consultations and communications, with a particular focus on: ongoing WTO negotiations, FTA with India, Russia access to WTO and trade with Russia, negotiations with ASEAN countries.

On market surveillance, the group monitors the activities at the many different levels and will continue its lobbying action intensively. The Secretariat works at the level of press, European Commission, European Parliament, and with other industry federations.

On Intellectual property rights and counterfeiting a partnership is established with the IPR SMEs Helpdesk in China, in order to update the members on the actions taken by the EU and at Chinese level to improve the situation.
