Exhaust emissions: requested replacement engine provision under scrutiny

The European Commission proposal regarding the next-stage exhaust emission regulation for engines installed in non-road mobile machinery (COM (2014) 581) does not include a provision for the replacement of engines as provided for in the current directive (97/68/EC). Such provision is essential because it allows the manufacture of newly-built engines to comply with the original limit values of the to-be-replaced engine. CECE, together with associations such as CEMA, FEM and Euromot, has raised...

Upward trend in March business expectations, but sales decrease in first quarter

The modest upward trend of the European construction equipment business climate continued in March. Again, this is only attributable to more positive future expectations, which correspond to higher levels of incoming orders. Actual sales are rather on a downturn in the first quarter. Looking at markets, the European manufacturers expect an even stronger booming North American market. Middle East markets remain to be strong, and hopes are coming back to China and India.
