Tomaž Gorišek

Counsellor at the EU Delegation to the UN

After working on European structural funds and covering trade in services at the Ministry of Economy in Slovenia, Mr. Gorišek joined the European Commission in 2008. Within his geographical focus on Latin America, his main tasks included negotiating trade agreements and managing bilateral trade relations, developing trade, investment and climate related cooperation programmes, and contributing to the European Commission’s external component of the multiannual budget. In 2015, he joined EU Delegation in Montevideo as Head of Political Section, managing bilateral relations between Uruguay and the EU. Since 2019, he works at the EU Delegation in Geneva as part of the economic, development, environmental and digital team, with his key responsibilities being on trade & development and on overall relations with African countries in multilateral Geneva.

Mr. Gorišekhas a MSc in European Political Economy from London School of Economics, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Ljubljana.
