CECE Business Barometer

Every month CECE asks around 220 senior European construction equipment industry representatives about their opinion on the state of industry. The objective is to obtain a regular business trend indicator and describe the economic climate.

The CECE Business Climate Index summarizes the survey answers on the evaluation of the current business situation and the expectations for the next 6 months regarding sales.

While detailed results including all questions are exclusively available for participants, a summary is available to all CECE members quarterly.

Second Quarter Summary:

CECE Business Climate Index suffered another setback in May, as both future expectations and current business situation went down significantly. The order intake scenario does not suggest a quick turnaround, and sales in Europe are likely to continue throughout 2024.

None of the European market regions currently has a positive assessment for the short-term future. Southern Europe and Turkey are the only regions where the outlook is just mildly negative.

Beyond Europe, optimism has also faded out. North America and India are the markets where there is still a positive assessment, but even there the trend is pointing downwards.
