RoHS 2 scope review- Council and Parliament reached a deal
BRUSSELS - Last 21 June the Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional agreement on a proposal that revises the scope of the Directive 2011/65/EU of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS 2).
The definition of non-road mobile machinery has been amended to exclude the non-road mobile machinery with a traction drive from the scope. The new text also allows the use of spare parts for equipment if they are put on the market before 22 July 2019.
The directive has to be formally adopted by the Council and the European Parliament and its publication is expected by the end of this year. The Commission is required to carry out this general review of RoHS2 by 22 July 2021.
