Advancing Data and Cybersecurity
A big topic on the agenda for #CECEatBAUMA 2025 was data and cybersecurity. Most notably with the CECE Workshop on Data Act Implementation and the joint ZF Group and Power Progress Technology Forum panel discussion on cybersecurity, in which Laura Fiumara, CECE Digital Policy Manager, intervened.
The CECE Workshop on Data Act Implementation took place on Thursday, 10th April and was kicked off by Holger Pietzsch, Chair of the CECE Digitalisation Task Force, who welcomed participants for an insightful deep dive into the impact of the EU Data Act on the construction equipment sector. He was then followed by Antonio Biason, Legal and Policy Officer, DG CNECT, European Commission, with a clear and incisive presentation on the objectives of the act and responsibilities for manufacturers, users and service providers across the data value chain. We thank Antonio Biason once again for participating in the workshop; his perspective is key in helping our industry understand the policy intentions behind the regulation.
Wrapping up the workshop was Laura Fiumara, CECE Digital Policy Manager, offering practical insights on what’s next for our sector. She outlined CECE’s role in supporting members through the implementation phase and highlighted the importance of continued dialogue between policymakers and industry to ensure clarity and feasibility in applying the new rules.
Cybersecurity also took centre stage at #CECEatBAUMA, with Laura Fiumara joining a panel debate at ZF Group’s Technology Forum, co-hosted with Power Progress, on Wednesday, 9th April. She provided valuable insights on how the industry is preparing for upcoming EU regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act, set to take effect in 2027. As she highlighted, with construction machinery becoming smarter and more connected, protecting systems from cyber threats is no longer optional - it's essential. Thank you to ZF Group and Power Progress for the opportunity to share this understanding at bauma 2025.
