CECE at the bauma FORUM
The bauma FORUM is a core part of the bauma supporting programme with keynotes, discussions, talks from start-ups and researchers, and exhibitor presentations on a key topic each day. CECE is pleased to note that both CECE Guests of the Day and CECE members took part in the forum, sharing insights on both the policymaking and industry sides.
Eugen Schobesberger, Chairman of the CECE High-Level Technical Policy Advisory Group, joined the bauma FORUM on Monday, 7th April for a panel debate on climate neutrality to share the role of the machine manufacturing industry in reaching decarbonisation goals in construction.
On Tuesday, 8th April, the bauma FORUM began with a keynote speech from MEP Hildegard Bentele, raising a crucial question: With the EU Critical Raw Materials Act, the European Union has provided an answer to Europe's dependence on raw materials. But how can the goals formulated in it be achieved?
Following the speech, CECE President Jose Antonio Nieto, CECE Guest Martin Lange, Policy Officer for Raw Materials from the European Commission, Ana Londoño Botero of Rio Tinto and Dr. Marcus Wirtz from VDMA Mining joined MEP Bentele on the stage to discuss the mining challenge and the key role of mining in our economies and societies of tomorrow. Among the topics of discussion were smarter regulation in Europe, global partnerships for raw materials, and recycling as a strategic pillar.
Last but not least, Katharina Knapton-Vierlich, Head of Unit for Construction, DG GROW, European Commission, delivered a keynote speech in the forum on Friday, 11th April and provided a comprehensive overview of European construction policy - touching on everything from construction product standards, to sustainability goals, digital transformation and the development of a European strategy for housing construction.
Katharina Knapton-Vierlich then joined an insightful panel on sustainable construction alongside experts from across the sector. From QNG standards and digital fabrication to the cement industry’s perspective, the discussion explored how to reduce carbon footprints, conserve resources and embrace the circular economy in construction.
Thank you to our CECE Guests of the Day and CECE members for sharing such valuable perspectives at the bauma FORUM.
