CECE actively participates in a targeted review of Outdoor Noise legislation

On 11th May, CECE participated in the European Commission’s (EC) Noise Expert Group meeting discussing future changes in a part of the Outdoor Noise Directive 2000/14/EC (OND).

The current goal of the EC is to update only the Annex III of the legislation, which includes test codes and measurement methods for more than 50 types of equipment in the scope of the OND. During the expert group meeting, EC, Member States, and industry stakeholders such as CECE had the opportunity to further discuss the most recent draft document and propose updates.

CECE has been participating in this revision process since its inception. With around 20 types of equipment under the CECE scope, it is crucial to understand the planned changes in the OND and ensure that the correct updated standard is listed in the legislation. Members of the CECE Project Team (PT) Noise have been meeting and providing feedback to the EC in various occasions, including a position paper in which test codes and measurement methods relate to each CECE product category.

In the meeting, CECE monitored any possible changes to the products’ categories in its scope and brought back the feedback to the members of the CECE PT Noise. For the next steps, there will be a new meeting of the EC Noise Expert Group in the end of June. To prepare for it, the CECE PT Noise will be looking closer into some product categories to prepare an updated position. Those include 13 - Conveying and spraying machines for concrete and mortar, 17 – Drill rigs, 21 – Excavator-loader, 30 – Joint Cutter and 42 – Piling Equipment.
