CECE presents Digitalisation Project at 2nd edition of ConstruYes in Spain

Hosted at ITAINNOVA in Zaragoza and organised by CECE Member association ANMOPYC, the 2nd edition of ConstruYes took part on 24th May and gathered over 120 participants from the construction value-chain.

Around the main topic of digitalisation and automation, the organisers created an informative full-day event with practitioners such as OEMs, contractors, innovation companies, legislators and legal experts.

Intervening among the first speakers, Riccardo Viaggi presented the recent work and the next steps of CECE Digitalisation Project. In his presentation, Riccardo showed the key findings of the final report and highlighted its conclusions, offering them as “recommendations” to all the involved stakeholders facing the digital transformations of the sector.

He then went on sharing information on the EU-funded DigiPlace project, due to start in September 2019 as the first attempt at outlining the architecture and the roadmap for a Digital Industrial Platform for Construction. He concluded reminding the key role of public support to the digital transformation, by highlighting the main lines of Horizon Europe’s funding, insisting on the added value that a solid network of Digital Innovation Hubs could have in bridging the knowledge and skills gap in the construction industry.

The day continued with presentations of cutting-edge technologies & processes combining digital, connectivity and sustainability, showing how collaboration and co-dependency are the keywords in the future of the construction industry in Europe.

A very interesting moment of the day was the main panel debate involving a leading contractor, two OEMs, a major Spanish IT company and a legal expert to address the element of data access. Moderated by ITAINNOVA’s David DIEZ, this debate helped participants focus their perspectives on the common challenges for companies – most of all in terms of culture and skills – in the digital transformation.
