#CECEatINTERMAT - a successful comeback

After six years, INTERMAT roared back to life, recording over 127k entries. CECE is a proud partner and attendee of the trade show and is pleased to state that #CECEatINTERMAT was also a success, with insightful discussions, meetings and events held over the days of the show.

The first day of the show started off strong, with CECE Secretary General Riccardo Viaggi joining the roundtable discussion “Energy, Climate: Europe in Tune” alongside FIEC Managing Director Domenico Campogrande and ERA Secretary General Michel Petit-Jean.

The afternoon saw a fruitful round of meetings with media partners KHL Group and later with exhibition partner CSPI-EXPO from Japan. The day then ended with the exciting Intermat Innovation Awards. CECE is pleased to congratulate all the CECE member nominees and winners.

Day two was no less busy for the CECE team, with the day beginning with the Rebuild Ukraine conference. CECE is pleased to see the topic take a centre stage as it is committed to the reconstruction of Ukraine and determined to aid in the supply of the best possible construction machinery for the project.

The second day of INTERMAT also bore witness to the first CECE Mining public event: CRMA and the Contribution of Equipment towards Sustainable Mining. Welcoming speakers Salvatore Berger and Benjamin Gallezot, from the European Commission and French Government respectively, as well as representatives from Imerys Group, Komatsu Europe, Hitachi Construction Machinery and Liebherr Mining Equipment, the event was a resounding success for the newly launched CECE Mining, drawing over 30 participants. Following the event, the CECE Board then convened to discuss operations for the year ahead.

CECE’s third day at Intermat may have been the last, but certainly not the least. The day started early with a meeting with EVOLIS, the French member association of CECE and organising partner of INTERMAT. From there, the CECE General Assembly, comprising the presidents of the member national associations, gathered for the second time this year. CECE President Jose Antonio Nieto then took part in a short interview with Peter Haddock from Content for Industry to discuss INTERMAT, sustainability, the construction equipment industry, and the changes ahead.

Next came CECE’s second public event of INTERMAT 2024: Navigating the New European Road Circulation Legislation. With over 30 people in attendance, the event featured talks and a panel debate between Marta Cebollero of the European Commission, Member of European Parliament Tom Vandenkendelaere, EVOLIS Roading Working Group Chairman Olivier François and CECE PT Road Circulation Chairman Alessandro Rossi.

Following the insightful event, Marta Cebollero and Tom Vandenkendelaere were invited to a tour of CECE member booths. Starting with a lunch at Liebherr with CECE High-Level Technical Policy Advisory Group Chairman Eugen Schobesberger, the tour then continued on to Volvo Construction Equipment, where the group met with Niklas Nillroth, Head of Sustainability and previous CECE President. The last stop was Putzmeister, where current CECE President Jose Antonio Nieto serves as CEO of Putzmeister Iberica and Business Unit Underground. This concluded the activites of #CECEatINTERMAT and CECE eagerly awaits the next edition.

CECE would like to extend a warm thank you to the INTERMAT team for its support. CECE would also like to thank all CECE members who participated, the speakers who joined our events, and the people who attended.
