Data Act – Inception Impact Assessment and Public Consultation is open

Last 28th May the European Commission published the Inception Impact Assessment on the upcoming Data Act with deadline for input 25th June followed by a public consultation  open until 3rd September.

Both actions aim to collect preliminary views from stakeholders on the Data Act initiative which is planned for Q4 of 2021. The Data Act has as objective to increase the use and access to data, particularly non-personal data regulated by contract law in B2B situations to ensure fairness in markets.

The Data Act will tackle relevant topics for the construction machinery sector data such as the business-to-business data sharing; rights on non-personal Internet of Things data, intellectual Properties Rights for databases and safeguards for non-personal data in international context.

CECE will follow the file closely and our members will evaluate the future policy options proposed by the European Commission.
