Establishment of the Parliament Intergroup on Industrial Competitiveness
With a letter dated 3rd December 2019 the Presidents of the Political Groups informed the President of the European Parliament of the agreement on the 27 new intergroups within the European Parliament for this legislature.
Within this list, for the first time, the political groups have decided to set up an intergroup on competitiveness and sustainability of European industry, its official name being “Competitive European Industry: long term and sustainable investment”.
The new intergroup on “Competitive European Industry: long term and sustainable investment” is a merger between the Intergroup on “European Industry 2030 – Sustainable, Competitive and Forward-looking” proposed by MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho under the advocacy of CECE and Orgalim, and the existing intergroup on Long Term Investment chaired by MEP Dominique Riquet.
This achievement has also been possible by the engagement of CECE, which has been campaigning for an intergroup on European competitive and sustainable industries over the last 6 months, through its Road to 2024 political Manifesto, several bilateral meetings with influential MEPs in Brussels and Strasbourg as well as with the CECE's #Openfactory project.
CECE is currently liaising with the relevant MEPs and stakeholders to play an active role in the newly established intergroup.
