Industrial Accelerator Act in focus: CECE speaks at European Parliament dinner debate

Last week, at the European Forum for Manufacturing's dinner debate hosted by Orgalim, CECE Secretary General Riccardo Viaggi addressed policymakers and industry representatives to share the machinery sector’s initial views on the proposed Industrial Accelerator Act.

In his remarks, Riccardo underlined that CECE and its members support the objective of strengthening European manufacturing and enhancing Europe’s industrial base. He stressed the importance of competitiveness, innovation and resilience for the construction and mining equipment sectors.

At the same time, CECE cautioned against addressing Europe’s competitiveness challenges through additional or rigid regulation. While the goal of the proposal is widely shared, he highlighted that overly prescriptive measures could risk slowing innovation and investment rather than accelerating them.

The discussion with Members of the European Parliament and Commission officials focused on how industrial policy can best support manufacturing, productivity and global competitiveness - by creating the right framework conditions rather than fixing market outcomes through regulation.
