Lithium and EU policy discussed at VDMA Mining Annual Meeting
CECE Mining together with roughly 130 participants followed the presentations and discussions at the annual meeting of VDMA Mining & Minerals. Dr. Marcus Wirtz, managing partner at JOEST group, took over the chairmanship of the VDMA trade association.
After presentations by Marko Uhlig, CEO of Zinnwald Lithium Gmb and Dr. Sarah Brückner, head of VDMA Department Environmental Affairs and Sustainability Managing, Director Waste Treatment and Recycling Technology, the speakers and the new chairman discussed current topics, moderated by Christoph Danner, Deputy Managing Director of VDMA Mining & Minerals.
The discussion centred on the development of lithium demand, the CRMA, the German Supply Chain Duty of Care Act as well as the European CS3D directive, and the demand for EU policy-makers to generally differentiate more strongly between b2c and b2b issues in legislation.
Consumer protection measures (in the broadest sense) are often negative to harmful to the b2b sector in their scope.
