Low emission zones and construction machinery

Directive 2008/50/EC on Ambient Air Quality requires EU Member States to ensure that the concentration in ambient air of certain pollutants as SO2, NOx, PM10 and PM2,5 does not exceed limit values specified in the Directive.

In this framework, action plans defined by Member States may include Low Emission Zones in (urban) areas (LEZ) within which there are restrictions on the use of cars and heavy duty vehicles. Construction equipment is also increasingly included in action plans. CECE has described its position regarding LEZ requirements for construction equipment in a recently published document that can be downloaded in the following link.
