Policymakers meet with CECE members at PDAC 2026
From 1-4 March CECE Mining team joined Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention 2026 in Toronto, This year edition saw the participation of 1.300 exhibitors and 32.000 visitors.
Over four days, PDAC 2026 facilitated networking, investment discussions and deal-making between mining companies, investors, equipment and technology companies and policymakers.
During the convention, CECE Mining organized several meetings between policymakers and our member companies exhibiting at PDAC. Kerstin Jorna, Director General at DG GROW and Riccardo Rossi, Member of Commissioner Jozef Sikela Cabinet, met with representatives from Epiroc, Becker Mining, Herrenknecht, Bauer Group and Metso.
Companies presented policymakers the latest technology for mining exploration and extraction powering efficient and safe mining operations in Canada and around the world. Also they reiterated their commitment to sustainability and to building resilient supply chains and called for a closer collaboration with policymakers to preserve European industry competitiveness in these turbulent times. Both EU officials and our members enjoyed the practical and frank exchange.
On Tuesday 3rd March Piia Karhu from Metso spoke on behalf of the our industry during a roundtable titled “Market Opportunities under CETA” organized by Euromines and CEUTIA. She shared insights on Metso’s experience in doing business in Canada and highlighted what Canada and EU policymakers can do to enhance economic cooperation and business opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.
During PDAC European Union, Member States and Government of Canada discussed strengthening their collaboration on raw materials and accelerating on the implementation of the partnership on raw materials launched in 2021. CECE believes the partnership could benefit the mining equipment and technology sector unlocking additional commercial opportunities in Canada for our members companies.
CECE is thankful to policymakers for their interest in our sector and to its members for taking the time to meet with EU officials and talk about current business environment and future challenges.
CECE Mining is looking forward to pursuing the dialogue with policymakers in Brussels, to ensure key measures contained in the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and REsourcEU action plan are implemented quickly and effectively unlocking benefits for the industry.
Also we are looking forward to host more of these exchanges with policymakers in the future, as they constitute a valuable opportunity to illustrate the contribution of our industry and the technology it provides to the realization of the CRMA’s goals.
