The Presidency published its priorities and program for these transitory six-months that will see the European elections take place in May 2019.

The priorities are these 4 pillars:

-Pillar 1: „Europe of convergence” to encourage economic cohesion in Europe,

-Pillar 2: „A safer Europe” to foster cooperation among member states in dealing with the new security challenges, including cybersecurity and fight against terrorism,

-Pillar 3: „Europe, as a stronger global actor” to promote enlargement, good neighborly relations and multilateralism,

-Pillar 4: „Europe of common values” such as solidarity and fight against discrimination.

Vision on the EU’s industrial policy

The Presidency holds that European industry needs a vision for 2030: for this it will promote Council conclusions aimed at encouraging a long-term perspective for the EU’s industrial policy. The Romanian Presidency will approach industry through the opportunities given by digitalisation and innovation, focusing on artificial intelligence and digital transformation, including the development of digital skills and digital literacy.

When it comes to specific sectors, the Presidency aims at promoting dialogue on the future of the automotive industry in the context of digitalisation and of environmental and mobility policies.
