Standardisation policy: Adoption of the text of the targeted amendment to Regulation 1025/2012
On 8th December, 2022, the Council approved the final text of the amendment to Article 10 of the standardisation regulation (EC 1025/2012) after the formal adoption by the European Parliament on 22nd November.
The act, once signed by the President of the European Parliament and the President of the Council, will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force 20 days later.
The technical amendment to article 10 is intended to strengthen the role of the national standardisation bodies in the decision-making bodies of the European standardisation organisations when those bodies take decisions concerning European standards and European standardisation deliverables. The representatives of the national standardisation bodies are, as a result, exclusively competent when taking:
- decisions on the acceptance and refusal of standardisation requests;
- decisions on the acceptance of new work items that are needed for the fulfilment of the standardisation request; and
- decisions on the adoption, revision, and withdrawal of European standards or European standardisation deliverables.’.
