CECE Technical Commission met in Brussels

From 17th to 20th June CECE held its second technical meeting of the year. The Technical Commission’s meeting on 20th June reviewed the most important topics summarised by the Project Teams and decided on next actions. The Technical Commission also discussed on the recently established Task Force on Digitalisation and the interactions with other working groups, and provided feedback for the CECE Summit Technical Forum 2019 preparations.

During the  PT Machinery meeting, participants discussed two key topics: the status of the discussions on the issue of compliance of powered quick couplers fitted on excavators; and the revision of the Machinery Directive, where participants drafted the first version of the CECE answer to the Machinery Directive open public consultation.

Regarding Road Circulation, participants agreed on a common opinion and a set of comments for the next Industry Task-Force (ITF) meeting. The discussions revolved around the European Commission's reaction to the ITF technical document laying down suggestions for a future harmonising legislation on road circulation requirements for non-road mobile machinery.

On Noise, following the European Commission Noise Experts Group, CECE members decided to map all past CECE positions and company contributions to the EC and gather data on costs of silent technology and possible trade-offs of silent equipment.

The Project Team on Data, with the participation of Gerrit Steinfort from Orgalim, focused on the recently published cybersecurity act and the certification framework; during the meeting an update on the e-privacy regulation took also place. The group on chemical and circular economy reported to the Technical Commission on the future ECHA database for waste as one of the topics with possible high impact for OEMs. Regarding engine emissions the priority for the coming months will be the analysis of the upcoming China IV stage.

Finally, as in every Technical Commission meeting, our colleagues from CEA reported on the Brexit negotiations and the technical legislation changes in both EU-27 and UK side.

The so-called “technical week” takes place in Brussels every quarter and gathers all the technical experts nominated by CECE members to work in the 6 active Project Teams and in CECE’s Technical Commission.
