Digital Europe, R&D and Infrastructure: CECE welcomes key elements of EU budget proposal
The EU long-term budget planning – also called Multiannual Financial Framework MFF – is organised in 7-year cycles with the current one finishing at the end of 2020. In May 2018, Commission President JUNCKER presented the proposal for the future MFF, covering the period 2021-2028.
In its latest position paper, CECE welcomed the main pillars of this long-term budget that have an impact on the construction machinery industry that it represents.
CECE calls on the European Parliament and Council to come to agreement on the next 7-year financial perspective in order to ensure a smooth transition for the flagship programmes of the EU.
As you can read in more details here, CECE particularly appreciates the additional allocation to the Connecting Europe Facility, the EU fund for infrastructure development. The creation of the Digital Europe programme is also a positive novelty, which should be accompanied by a clear prioritisation, in terms of funding, for projects towards the digital development of the construction industry.
