In Tokyo, CECE companies and member associations took part in the Joint Technical Liaison Meeting
Organised by Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA), CECE's Japanese sister association, the 34th Joint Technical Liaison Meeting (JTLM) took place in Tokyo from 18th to 19th of April 2024.
In the context of the JTLM, the participated delegations held discussions on the latest legislative developments and the current policy activities in the EU, US, Japan, South Korea, China, Latin America, India, Australia and other regions, such as Gulf and Africa. It was a constructive meeting with about 70 participants from all main regions and over 90 dossiers on the agenda.
This year, the exchange of views mainly revolved around digital and chemical regulations as well as machinery legislations, global circular economy, engine emissions, and reports and discussions on standards and ISO activities. As announced previously, the JTLM Joint Declaration on PFAS was formally discussed. It is noteworthy that this is the first-ever advocacy material developed at JTLM level. CECE already endorsed and adopted it in March 2024. More information and announcements on the communication of this Joint Declaration will be made in the near future.
In addition, ‘Decarbonisation’, together with Air Quality, was addressed which was a first for the JTLM. JTLM participants, among other topics, were updated on UK initiative on NRMM Decarbonisation.
More detailed information on the presentations delivered will be made available to interested members shortly. In addition, the upcoming CECE Technical Bulletin will report on the various topics discussed per region and will be made available for CECE members.
