Orgalime presents industry trends in digitalisation and AI
On 13th November Orgalime hosted the event “Collaborate to Better Compete” within its General Assembly in Brussels. As a new member of Orgalime, CECE attended this event with great interest.
The event focussed on innovation and solutions to societal challenges brought by EU technology industries, and the way a better collaboration could boost relevant policy and regulatory decisions in order to gain a competitive edge on the global stage.
The first panel hosted interventions by Orgalime President Tomas Hedenborg, VDMA Director Holger Kunze, Engineering Director Jouko Peussa and conference moderator Financial Times Frankfurt Correspondent Patrick McGee, tackling the future of EU industrial strategy, the approach of EU’s political leadership towards industry and the trade opportunities offered by AI.
Katya Vladislavleva, CEO and Chief Data Scientist at award-winning AI-based analytics platform DataStories International, introduced the most recent trends in digitalisation and shared the findings of an original project on technology industry statistics maintained by Orgalime’s Economic & Statistics Working Group.
The second panel, hosting Averys Group CEO Jos de Vuyst, Orgalime Malte Lohan and Siemens Radu Surdeanu, tackled the role of European tech firms in using AI and machine learning to make manufacturing smarter, attract investment and foster citizens’ trust in key technologies revolutionising economy and society.
The conference part of the event was followed by a guided visit at the digital campus BeCentral and a presentation from CEO Laurent Hublet on projects, activities and initiatives designed to accelerate the digital transformation of business and society.
