You need to self-disrupt!

Leyla Acaroglu is a designer, systems thinker and entrepreneur. She is internationally recognised as a leader in tools for the circular economy. Leyla is the founder of the UnSchool, Disrupt Design and the CO Project Farm in Portugal. Her distinguished record as a “sustainability provocateur” includes a mainstage TED talk, along with several leading presentations on activating positive social and environmental change through creative interventions.

Leyla Acaroglu gave a remarkable inspirational speech at the end of the Plenary Session on the first day of our Summit, tackling how manufacturing industry and OEMs can develop a sustainable business approach towards a sustainable Europe.

In her intervention, Leyla underlined how sustainability represents an incredible opportunity to solve problems and invited the audience to consider unconventional ways of thinking when faced with new challenges.

When raising the big question on how to reconcile world’s finite resources and the infinite desires of humans, Leyla reminded the audience about the opportunities offered by a circular economy. “Your industry needs to self-disrupt or it will get dragged away by the change, mainly brought by new generations coming into the workforce”, Leyla stated.

Her speech invited all participants to activate positive social and environmental change through creative intervention, challenging the construction equipment sector to think differently and redesign the entire system.
